Announcing a call for speakers for a Crossplane community day of talks

This event has concluded, but you can check out the recorded talks in this summary of Control Plane Day with Crossplane.

Join us on Tuesday, September 19, at 8 AM PT/15:00 UTC for an online event for the Crossplane community. Control Plane Day with Crossplane will be presented by Upbound for the entire open source community. This will be a live online event featuring technical talks, demos, and networking with Crossplane project maintainers and peers who are building platforms powered by Crossplane.

The theme of the event is Kubernetes Control Plane liftoff! At its five-year mark, we invite you to get an update of what's happening with the project, understand new strategies for building with Crossplane, and gain know-how to take your cloud control plane expertise to the next level. While we’ve reached very far and wide with the project and community, with more than 9,000 of you in Slack and 7,000+ GitHub stars, in some ways, we’re also just getting started!

We encourage any level of Crossplane experience to join us at the event. We’ll have a single content track, hosted by Viktor Farcic, a well known devops expert and developer advocate at Upbound. We'll be featuring a panel with the Crossplane maintainers to get all of your questions answered. We’ll also feature a keynote talk with Crossplane creator Bassam Tabbara, CEO of Upbound, to share his vision for control planes and the state of the project.

Registration will open soon, but most importantly, we want to hear from you!

Call for Speakers

Are you a Crossplane user? We want you to also share your stories. We’re seeking talks that:

  • Fit any experience level: Ideally are a fit for beginner to intermediate users of Crossplane.
  • Explore various user stories: Show what you have built and accomplished with Crossplane, from building your Internal Developer Platform (IDP), to multi-tenant application delivery, to powering your Cluster as a Service strategy, and more.
  • Walk through learnings and tips: Have you moved from Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to a control plane architecture? We want to hear about the steps you took and lessons learned.
  • Are great “how to’s”: Are you experienced with building compositions? Have you built a provider? Show the community how you did it and share best practices.

Submit your talks by August 2, 2023. You should plan for 15 minutes for your talk length. You’ll be notified of acceptance within 2 weeks of that date. If your talk isn’t accepted for this edition, we’d love to consider it for future events. If you’re looking for some inspiration, we encourage you to check out the talks from our previous Crossplane Community Day. And of course, feel free to reach out to me (@jbw976) personally on Crossplane Slack if you’d like feedback on your ideas!

Engage with the Community

We’ll open up event registration soon - stay tuned. Other than by submitting a talk we encourage you to stay in touch with the community. Whether you are a developer, user, or just interested in what we're up to, feel free to join us via one of the following methods:
